The New Busch Stadium

Brought to you by Viagra

There are some people in St. Louis that are going to chastise me for saying this but I hate the new Busch Stadium. Sure this place looks beautiful but not unlike a trophy wife, everything else sucks. This corporate palace was not built for the fans of baseball but was designed with an obvious corporate theme especially for advertisers. Like everything else in life, absolutely no thought was given to the family trying to bring their kids to the game.

We were tricked into spending our tax dollars for a new ball park that was supposed to be a palace to baseball. Instead we built a palace to Viagra, Anheuser-Busch, Dodge and Coke. All the best seats are either private corporate suites or priced well out of the normal family budget.

Top reasons why I hate the new Busch Stadium:

• The new ball park has fewer seats for the average fan but plenty of corporate boxes even though taxpayer money helped build it.
• The new ball park is crammed full of advertisements; there are everywhere and on everything. Walking around this stadium is like walking through a giant spam.
• The ticket prices were raised but the Cardinal team salary was lowered. Where in the hell is this increase in ticket prices going? Right into the pockets of the owners; that’s where.
• A hot dog is $4 and a beer is $8!!!! A small nacho is $5!! You get my point here.
• Over 90% of the ball park is open so if it rains there is no where to go to keep dry.
• Corporate sponsorship is too obvious with too many private areas for them.
• Restroom facilities are too small; when you gotta go, you gotta go.
• Why are seat cushions only in the field box area, why not just put them everywhere?
• There is no place in this park for families.

I am sure no expense was spared for the corporate sponsors, the advertisers or the specialty shops but for the average fan this facility sucks worse than the River port Amphitheatre. The ditto heads in the St. Louis media never see the park from the eyes of the average fan so they have been tricked into overrating this facility. I wonder if all the new parks are like this one?

It's a shame that a simple pleasure like a baseball game cost so much people can't afford to take the whole family. I will admit to being very spoiled my whole life and never having to pay a dime to see a game. One day I added up the costs of the tickets, food and drinks. Yikes!

May not be completely relevant, but i feel for you, man. I live in Mumbai(bombay) and we have a great big cricket stadium here. but the city is the size of a small country and everytime there's a match worth watching, the seats are taken up by various clubs and companies in bulk leaving the average sports fan no choice but to stand in terrible lines for the impossible chance to get a ticket.

u talking about prices in stadiums? they raise the prices EVERYWHERE. u go for a movie, say, and food costs like...***## more than it should/does. like a 300 ml coke, which is sold for a mrp of 12 rupees (me from bombay too) will be sold for not less than 20. in the trains. at railway stations (sometimes). i dunno bout the stadium that chit spoke about, cos i never bothered to go there. wen i can watch the match in d comfort of my home, without being irritated/insulted by security/volunteers/ppl at various counters at such places, why the hell should i waste my money and go THERE. seriously, 'some' ppl luv to take the fun out of everything. and those ppl like to 'advertise' it out loud. :( [ok, i have reached the point of rage where i am not making sense to myself, so excuse me. bye.]
