We celebrated the 4th of July with my parents on Sunday, July 2. My parents brought a new game back with them from Seattle and we had a blast playing it. My dad built it with 1 inch PVC; it's like horseshoes.

Oh no fair! Did you know they have outlawed everything up here? Not just fountains, but sparklers, smoke bombs, even those "snakes" and stuff.
I wish I could show my kids all that fun stuff, those little things we used to do on the 4th of July. Even the "snaps!" that you throw on the ground are against the law. *sigh* I'm waiting for them to outlaw birthday candles at this point.
I miss buying fireworks at the stands. It's still legal where I grew up. Now I am watching fireworks displays right from my window : (

I guess the fireworks being illegal is a big town thing? They are illegal in the City of St. Louis too but I live in St. Louis County and my parents live in Hillsboro, MO, so it’s alright to shoot them there. Actually plenty of people shoot them off in the city too but the cops do not issue citations unless people get careless; probably the same in New England. Your kids are definitely missing out; my son likes to shoot the bottle rockets.
